Tulsa Innovation Labs was founded in 2020 by the George Kaiser Family Foundation to secure Tulsa’s leadership in industries of the future. Our strategy is based on Tulsa’s unique assets, strengths and history of innovative leadership.
Tulsa Innovation Labs is an economic development organization focused on unlocking opportunity in our region through innovation — by connecting resources, ideas and people.
We bring unique partners together to identify opportunities in our community and design solutions, like programs that train the next generation of our workforce, attract and develop new businesses and support industry needs as they transition to an innovation-driven future.
Because of our bold vision and leadership, Tulsa has received major funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to establish the region as a leading tech hub in advanced mobility. With federal funding and matching contributions, that amounts to nearly a quarter billion dollars invested in the region.
Strategy
TIL was founded to bring strategic focus to the Tulsa region’s economic development investments. Building upon local assets and Tulsa's pioneering legacy - we're not building these industries from scratch, but leveraging existing strengths and assets and transitioning them to a 21st century innovation economy.
Through a data-driven approach, we work across sectors to design initiatives that fill ecosystem gaps, support and expand local assets, and catalyze inclusive growth and economic mobility.

Impact
TIL's 2023 impact report, "Tulsa's Path to Inclusive Growth," indicates the organization is poised to drive significant and inclusive growth in the Tulsa region in the coming years.

TIL recognizes that Tulsa’s long-term success requires collective action. And so, in 2022, we released a new tool called The Economy Forward Framework, designed in partnership with the Aspen Institute and Heartland Forward. This tool identified nine metrics for measuring inclusive economic growth in midsized cities. It also includes analysis and goals for Tulsa across those nine metrics. TIL is using this framework to monitor the progress of Tulsa’s innovation economy.
